Our Philosophy:
WESTMORLAND PET RETREAT is owned and operated by Kim Spark.
Always wanting to own a dog and cat boarding facility, in June of 2008 she and her husband Andrew along with their two children moved to Scotland, Ontario and seized that opportunity. She took over the already operational Westmorland Kennels and renamed it to Westmorland Pet Retreat in 2009.
Kim has over 25 years of experience in the pet industry as a veterinary technician. Still today she works one to two shifts a month at an Emergency Vet Clinic in order to keep up with the ever evolving medical procedures and medicines in pet care. As well, since opening Westmorland Pet Retreat, Kim has also become a groomer, teaching herself the art to a well groomed pet.
A pet owner as well, Kim knows what it is like to have that loving bond with your fury family member(s). Wanting to make sure they are taken well care of even when you need to leave them to someone else’s care.
Kim has taken all her knowledge that she has learned over her years in the pet industry and combined it with the world of small business to create what she believes is the success to Westmorland Pet Retreat.
“WESTMORLAND PET RETREAT” is focused on providing high quality service and customer satisfaction – we will do everything we can to meet your expectations. We strive to ensure your pet(s) boarding and/or grooming experience is as stress free as possible and we believe a healthy pet is a happy pet and treat them like they are part of our family.
Frequently Asked Questions
Our customers very often have the same sort of concerns in dropping a pet off under our care. For your review, we’ve compiled a short list of frequently asked questions below. For more questions, comments or concerns, please contact us.
-What should I bring for my pet when we’re ready to drop off?
We’ll need a copy of your pets’ Vaccination Certificate (up to date Bordetella vaccine required) or an emailed copy from your vet. You should also plan to bring any necessary medications that are labelled with your pets’ name, the name of the medication and the required dosage. Finally, we’ll need some food for your pet, labelled with your pets’ name and any special feeding instructions. Don’t forget your pets’ favourite toys, treats or bedding that you feel will make your pets’ stay more enjoyable!
-What should I expect when I come back to pick up my pet?
Since the reunion time will be exciting for both you and your pet, we kindly ask that your payment is settled when you arrive. Please help us remember any special toys, medications or bedding that you’ve brought for your pet.
If someone else will be picking up your pet, we will need to be notified of this arrangement in advance. We will require the persons’ name and they will have to provide photo ID before we will release your pet to them. Full payment will also be required at this time as well.
